Fashion is
Elusive…Style Endures
But it’s easy to
confuse the two. Tips for any season should hold true for every
season. No one wants to be a victim to fashion fads. Your wardrobe should
complement your life, not complicate it. Your closet should be full of
possibilities—not problems.
As the seasons change
we begin to rearrange things. After an especially hard winter it's important to get a breath of spring with a splash of color, an embellished flip-flop, or a scarf
that shimmers. You don’t need a wardrobe makeover, you just want something fresh
and new to feel alive again.
Spring 2010
When it comes to
feeling fresh, nothing compares to a crisp, white shirt. Ever-stylish,
always in season, you probably own at least one. But if you need an update, try
a version with a soft sash tie, delicate pin-tucking, ruffles or touches of
lace or embroidery. Sleeves that show some wrist flatter all body types.
For casual chic, wear
the boyfriend shirt over leggings or belted with jeans. Accessories in brown
and turquoise bring the look up to first class.
Speaking of jeans—denim
has never been hotter. New fits and new washes are just the beginning. Jackets,
handbags, tunics and shoes showed up on the runways during Fashion Week. Look
for a jacket that’s dressed up with crystals or lace. When paired with your LBD
(Little Black Dress) you’re set for a date night with your sweetie, or a night
on the town with your girlfriends. For a look that pops, add a splash of yellow, a color that will make you feel good inside and
out.
Animal prints continue to dominate. But, don't let them dominate you! A little goes a long way. Try a blouse in a soft fabric or tie a scarf around the handle of your purse. These patterns look especially good with neutrals.
The safari jacket is
hot this spring and looks great paired with orange or coral—colors that
are so vibrant, with a shade to flatter every complexion.
For a sophisticated
look that slenderizes and elongates, go monochromatic. You don’t have to wear
black to appear slim. Column dressing is all about color—when your top and
bottom are the same color you form a “column.” (Think tall and skinny). Combine
shades of cream, tan, and khaki for elegant sophistication.
Other trends to watch:
·The shirtdress—a figure-friendly choice no matter what your shape.
·Soft T-shirts for layering—inexpensive and versatile.
·Statement shoes range from flats to sexy platforms and make you feel
fabulous.
·Walking shorts, city shorts, cargo pants.
So, when you’re ready to slip into spring, a few
of these ideas can take your look from so-so, to "oh-so gorgeous!"
